Busworld Asia postponed to 2013

Busworld Asia, the most important showcase for the bus and coach sector in the Asian market, has been cancelled for the current year. The motivation is that organizers, pressed by the Chinese bus industry, are working to make the event more international in order to transform it into the Asian equivalent of Busworld Europe. The meeting has been postponed to March 20-22 2013 and it will take place in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Busworld Kortijk will also take place in 2013, but at different dates (18-23 October).

Olivari coaches enjoying the Carnival life

Carnival season is called the 5th season in the Kvarner region which is our home region.

During that time tourist boards of the cities in the region organise different events and we have been chosen to be the transportation service provider for the Carnival in Rijeka and the Carnival in Opatija.

Because of the cold weather some events like the Childrens Carnival Parade in Rijeka were postponed but the Carnival season is so popular and important for the local inhabitants of this region that none of the events were cancelled.

The Carnival events which are still to be held and where we will be the transportation service provider are:

18th February – The Girandola of Opatija – Carnival Parade in Opatija

Opatija is known as the imperial holiday resort ever since 19th century and this Carnival Parade leads the masks through the historic streets of Opatija from the seaside promenade through the main street.

18th February – Children’s Carnival Parade in Rijeka –

In this event all the youngest citizens of Rijeka and the surrounding area take part and they completely overflow the Rijeka’s main pedestrian area (called Korzo).
In the last parade in 2011. almost 6000 small masks took part and enlightened the day of all the viewers with their colourful masks.

19th February – International Carnival Parade in Rijeka

http://www.ri-karneval.com.hr/en/events/international_carnival_parade

This event is the crown of all Carnival ceremonies in the Kvarner area.
On Sunday 19th February hundreds of allegoric floats, thousands of masks and thousands spectators from Croatia and abroad will pass along the main pedestrian area in Rijeka (called Korzo).

Since it was organised in 1982, the International Carnival Parade in Rijeka has grown into an important European Carnival event.
Last year, the 2011. Carnival Parade was followed by more than 110 thousand people, with more than 9000 masks/participants from 107 carnival groups.

Our role at this carnival events is to safely transfer the participants of the Carnival from their home towns to the Carnival.
All the main streets in the Carnival cities will be closed for traffic on the day of the event, and only authorised coaches will be allowed to access the city centre.
Authorised coaches are city buses and coaches (such as ours) which will be transfering the carnival groups.

We wil be there, and you still have the chance to “BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE – COME TO THE RIJEKA CARNIVAL! “

Olivari newsletter: Transportation service for the association of Olive Oil Producers from Island Krk “Drobnica”

TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FOR THE ASSOCIATION OF OLIVE OIL PRODUCERS FROM ISLAND KRK “DROBNICA”

At the beginning of December we have provided transportation for the Association of olive oil producers from island Krk (Croatia), called “Drobnica”.
They are an association of olive oil producers and olive plantation owners which produce high quality extra virgin olive oil from hand picked and cold pressed olives.
Together with Associations of olive oil producers from Istria (Croatia) and Slovenian coast they are participants in a project which is sponsored by the EU and takes effort to protect and preserve bio diversity, prevention of polution and quality control of the olive oil.
As a coach owning company it was our pleasure to take part in this project which is based on ecology and bio diversity, and to give a new meaning to the term eco traveler.
Even though it includes some off road driving through roads which are not intended for coach, our drivers don’t mind the hard work as it includes a day in the nature, and seeing our coach inside an olive trees plantation, always brings a proud smile on our faces.

Coaches are still the safest mode of holiday transport

Coaches are still the safest mode of holiday transport. This has been confirmed once again by the latest TÜV-Bus-Report (German Association for Technical Inspection). More than 80 percent of vehicles examined became the TÜV sticker straight away, a far higher percentage than for cars and for lorries. Failings, when detected, were often not of a very serious nature, e.g. headlight settings. Only 0.1 per cent of coaches examined were declared unsafe for road traffic, i.e. 25 out of 50,000 vehicles. The RDA International Coach Tourism Federation concludes that the high levels of coach safety are a direct result of coach sector safety initiatives over the past couple of years. Brake defects were rarely discovered by the TÜV. This is good news. Corrosion in body work was mostly discovered in coaches over ten years old and here in less than 5 percent of vehicles examined. RDA President Richard Eberhardt stated that he very much welcomed the fact that the TÜV 2011 Report confirmed that coaches are still – as before – the safest mode of holiday transport.

New Jumbo Bus for GPN Finland!

Reissu Ruoti has a brand new coach, a 66-seater Scania OmniExpress 360.  It is the biggest coach in the company’s  50-plus- year history. Group sizes have grown in Finland, and the need for big coaches has also increased over the last few years.   The new  66-seater coach is 14,95 meters long.  It is called “Jumbo” because of its large size.  The local company Lahden Autokori Oy made this coach especially for Reissu Ruoti, and it will be most of the summer season in Helsinki for cruise tourist shore excursions.

At the beginning of June, Finland has a bus exhibition in the city of Lahti, where you can see our Jumbo on display.  The Bus2011 exhibition brings together coach companies from all over the Finland every year.  This year, it will be held in Lahti.  There you can also see many of Charter Finland and GPN Finland members. If you are interested in knowing more about the Bus2011 Lahti exhibition, you can contact Bus Travel Oy Reissu Ruoti, Tel. +3583 7878120, or reservation@reissuruoti.fi

Marti/GPN Switzerland Exceeds Quality and Comfort Standards with New Coaches

Marti’s 5-star-coaches spoil their customers with comfort and luxury, while remaining the most environmentally friendly means of transportation.  For the new travel season, Marti has just received a delivery of eight new Setra coaches that all meet the highest European EEV emission standards.

EEV reflects the highest emission standard applicable for commercial vehicles in Europe. EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) exceeds the current Euro-5 emissions standards through substantial reduction of particulate matter and nitric oxide. Marti has voluntarily invested in becoming a leader in coach ecology,  since EEV is neither required by Swiss regulations, nor is it subsidized.

The new coaches also exceed the well-known comfort standards of the Marti fleet. All service facilities (extensive onboard kitchen and toilette) have been moved into the rear of the coach in order to provide for extra comfortable entryways that meet the requirements of a demanding clientele. Luxury seats in an offset mounting guarantee for optimal seating comfort and the 5-star classification standards from the German gbk-organization allow for a generous distance of 90cm between seats.

Marti is one of Switzerland’s leading coach operators. The annual investment in new vehicles is part of the quality strategy of the 109-year-old, family-owned company.
