Eberhardt is proves to be one of the safest coach companies being part of the nationwide campaign “Safe to school”
At the Richard Eberhardt GmbH in Engelsbrand, in August 2018 27 buses were voluntarily checked by the Dekra before the start of school, in addition to the prescribed deadlines.
The most commonly used means of public transport in Baden-Wuerttemberg is the bus, not least due to the nationwide school traffic. Although every day thousands of bus trips to school and back home are needed, the bus is by far the safest means of transport compared to a car (parental taxi), moped or bicycle. As part of the nationwide campaign “Safe to school – by bus!” of the Association of Baden-Württemberg Bus Operator e. V. (WBO), the 27 buses used by Eberhardt in school transport were examined by test engineers from Dekra. Result: “No identifiable defects” and “All vehicles suitable for use in school traffic!”.
“Our schoolchildren are the weakest road users because of their height and their level of development. Our job as a bus operator is to bring them safely and reliably to school and back home. By taking part in this year’s school bus check again, we want to show our young passengers, their parents and all other passengers that our vehicles are in a technically perfect condition, “says CEO Richard Eberhardt.
The various tests included not only the brake system, chassis, visibility and lighting but also the entrances (reversing equipment), the seats and the emergency exits. Special attention was paid to the suitability for school traffic. This is guaranteed e.g. by suitable handholds for children, easily accessible stop requests buttons and the school bus signs.
The voluntary school bus check will take place for the eighth time this year. So far, almost 2,800 vehicles have been examined nationwide. Above all, private bus companies ensure that the more than 1.1 million schoolchildren in Baden-Württemberg receive a secure and efficient school bus service.
