Hansa Group acquired operations of Europcar Baltics

Hansa Group, our coach company member in Estonia, acquired the master franchise and operations of Europcar in the Baltics. As a result of the transaction, Hansa Group will be one of the biggest short-term rental companies in the Baltic States and the market leader in Estonia.
Hansa Group, former NTH Holding, acquired Europcar franchise owner in Baltic States – Baltic Mobility LLC with its subsidiaries Mobility Estonia LLC and Mobility Latvia SIA. Additionally, the subsidiary of Baltic Mobility will start operating in Lithuania starting from January 1 under the brand Europcar. Two car rental companies – Europcar as a new member and Hansatransport Group LLC formerly operated under the brand Hansarent – are included in Hanse Group after the transaction.
According to Neeme Tammis, Member of Hansa Group Board the group aims to be the market leader in the Baltics. „We want to be a leader in the Baltic short-term rental market in the coming years and in the long term one of the major players in all the segments of rental products. We are motivated by the desire to be the best, and we also want to offer our customers only high-quality service. The acquiring of Europcar enables us to create more added value by integrating Europcar’s international experience and Hansarent’s local. We develop synergies between both of the car rental companies and as well within the group. Car rental locally and abroad, charter services, city tours and bus transfers – all services from one place,“ Tammis said.

The availability and flexibility of service is improved thanks to the enlarged network of rental offices. „Using our services will be more comfortable in the three Baltic States and under two brands. Europcar services will be easier to use in Europe as the selection of vehicles and rental offices will be wider. In addition, we are launching a new product – rental of vans under the brand of Iveco Daily, represented by Hansa Group,“ Tammis added.

According to Tammis, Hansarent has made a strategic decision to expand to Latvia and Lithuania. The investments of renewal of the vehicle fleet will approximately account in total of 5 million euros.

As a result of the transaction, Hansa Group will be one of the biggest short-term rental companies in the Baltic States, owning approximately 450 vehicles, and the market leader in Estonia. The services are provided and developed in five different rental business areas – short and long term rent, full-service rent and leasing and replacement car. Comprehensive service development is currently ongoing in last two directions. The volume of short-term rental turnover of Hansarent and Europcar Baltics is more than 3 million euros per year.
Hansa Group owns a majority stake in Hansabuss dealing with bus transport services, which owns the brands Hansabuss, Hansa Liinid and City Tour. The Group also owns the majority stake in Iv Pluss operating the sales and services of Iveco and Irisbus vehicles. The total turnover of Hansa Group is more than 20 million euros per year and the group provides job to more than 425 people.

Europcar International is the leader in car rental services in Europe. Present in over 140 countries, the company provides customers with one of the largest rental network through its own operators, franchisees and partnership. Europcar group’s brand operates under brand name National and Alamo in Europe and the EMEA zone. Europcar vehicle fleet total volume of about 200,000 vehicles globally, and total staff of approximately 6,500 employees.

Hansa Group was advised by investment bank Michel Capital and law firm Nordeus. The seller was advised by the law firm Varul. The price of the transaction is confidential according to the agreement of parties.
