Reykjavik Excursions – Kynnisferdir is preparing the summer by adding 12 new vehicles to its fleet of buses

The friendliest country on Earth?

According to UK´s Daily Mail, Iceland´s tiny population is ranked as the friendliest in the world by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The Daily Mail calls us “a tiny, glacier-covered nation, perched in the freezing Norwegian Sea” which is not quite true – we are tiny but big hearted, we have Europe´s largest glaciers but are not glacier covered and Iceland is situated on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge in the North Atlantic Ocean.

All this fellow Global Passenger Network members know and those who were in Iceland at the Reykjavik GPN meeting in 2010 remember how nice we all were!

The best news from Iceland is however that tourists are flocking to our country – the number has gone up almost 40% in the first three months of 2013. This is good news for Reykjavik Excursions – Kynnisferdir (www.gpn.travel/en/iceland) and we are preparing for the summer by adding 12 new vehicles to our fleet of buses. The additional vehicles consist of 3 MB Sprinter 19 with 19 seats each, 1 MB Vario with 30 seats, 1 VDL Futura with 70 seats and 7 VDL Futura with 57 seats each – altogether 556 seats. See more about our fleet and services at www.gpn.travel/en/iceland

We are looking forward to summer – hopefully a busy one and full of adventures and new experiences. Next week – April 25th we celebrate the first day of summer and in our country this is a general holiday. We have now drawn a close to our winter program searching for the Northern Lights but will begin running the tours again in September. In March – all our VDL Futuras grew “beards”! This was part of Iceland Cancer Society´s campaign for fighting cancer in men – with a special attention to prostate cancer.

Reykjavik Excursions – Kynnisferdir donated a sum of money to the campaign and raised awareness in the many who saw the “bearded” busses. They have now all been shaved and are as good looking as ever.

As some of you know, our friend Agnar Danielsson left Reykjavik Excursions – Kynnisferdir recently and is greatly missed by us all.

His successor is Ulfar Thor Magnusson who is already well settled in his task – having years of experience from a local hotel. Our general manager Kristjan Danielsson attended the recent GPN meeting in Bilbao and had a great time – he´s turned into a true GPN fan.

Best wishes for a wonderful summer to all our friends at Global Passenger Network ( www.gpn.travel)
