One of the world´s most popular video games is „made in Iceland“ and is called EVE Online. In March this year the annual fanfest of EVE Online players and developers was held in Reykjavík. To celebrate the success of the game , our GPN member in Iceland, Reykjavík Excursions had one of their busses decorated as a part of the virtual world EVE Online takes place in.

Kynnisferdir – Reykjavík Excursions was the official transport agent for the more than 2.000 members of the fanfest that came to join the celebration. The people that attended the fanfest come from all walks of life and differ in ages. Players around the world number up to 500.000 – and more and more features are constantly added to the game.

So what is EVE Online?

The game is set more than 21.000 years into the future. Humans have long since used up all resources on Earth and have colonized the rest of the Milky Way. All sorts of conflicts occur – players can fly around in custom made ships, taking part in all sorts of activities like manufacturing, dressmaking, trading, exploring and combatting. Next year´s fanfest will be in Reykjavík in March, coinciding with a total solar eclipse on March 20th, with Iceland projected to be one of the best spots in the world to witness the event.
